To preserve our children's eyesight: advice from Dr Stéphanie Zwillinger
Presented by Agathe Lecaron, La Maison des Maternelles is a daily program on France 2 devoted to parenting and early childhood.
On the June 24, 2024 program, Houssem welcomes Stéphanie Zwillinger, an ophthalmic surgeon specializing in pediatrics, to discuss how to preserve our children’s eyesight.
Preserving our children’s eyesight is essential for their health and well-being.
Here are a few COP9 tips to help you do just that:
- Limit screen time
Tablets, smartphones and computers can cause eye strain, especially when used excessively.
- Encourage your children to take frequent breaks and spend time outdoors.
Natural light is good for the eyes and helps prevent myopia.
- Make sure your children adopt good reading habits
They should read in a well-lit environment, keeping an adequate distance between their eyes and the book.
- Vary visual activities to avoid eye fatigue
- A balanced diet
Foods rich in vitamins A, C and E, as well as omega-3, contribute to good vision. Incorporating fruit, vegetables, fish and nuts into their diet is essential for eye health.
- Regular visits to the ophthalmologist
Regular visits to the ophthalmologist help to detect and treat eye problems at an early stage. Early detection can make a big difference in preventing long-term vision problems.
By following these tips, you’ll be helping to preserve your children’s eyesight and ensure them a healthy, active life!
