Contactology is a specialty that joined the COP9 team in 2022 to enrich our multidisciplinary ophthalmology team with new skills. Present in our practice located in Paris 9, our contactologist accompanies patients with ametropia (vision disorders), in the adaptation of contact lenses, as well as raising their awareness to the hygiene rules for their lenses.
COP9’s principle is to propose to its patients a customized follow-up for their visual disorder, in order to provide them with a sense of well-being and satisfaction. The presence of a contactologist in our practice was therefore obvious in order to propose a complete coordinated care program.
Have you always worn glasses and want to switch to contacts? You want to opt for colored lenses? Does your ocular pathology require special care with lenses? Each of these questions can be answered by your contactologist in our practice in Paris 9.
As a recognized medical procedure, wearing lenses requires professional follow-up care and frequent replacements. During your check-up with our contactologist, you will be examined in order to determine the lens diameter and the type of lenses that will improve the quality of your vision.
Once your appointment is over, our contactologist will write you a prescription, issued by our ophthalmologist Dr. Stephanie Zwillinger, allowing you to obtain your trial lenses from your optical center. Don’t hesitate to discover this article to learn more about the types of contactology appointment.
Depending on the type of lenses prescribed, our professional will inform you about the maximum wearing time of the lenses. Prolonged wear is not recommended in order to keep your lenses comfortable and to avoid dryness. You will also learn that you can use a saline solution in case of dry eyes.
Our contactologist also practices orthokeratology: this is a type of rigid contact lens that is worn only at night. In the morning, when you wake up, you just need to remove them to be able to see correctly all day long. You no longer need glasses or contact lenses, and you will regain good visual acuity… as long as you meet the conditions for this eye care, and never forget to wear your contact lenses, even just for one night.
You may wish to know that it is possible for our COP9 contactologist to correct or improve any type of ametropia, such as myopia, astigmatism, presbyopia or hyperopia. Irregular corneas can also be treated, such as keratoconus.
Our contactologist will offer you, over several appointments, a series of corrections and adaptations. You will learn more about lens care (progressive lenses, disposable lenses, monthly lenses…). The objective is to propose to you the type of lens corresponding to your field of vision. Your eyeball shape, your diopters, your tear film and many other factors will be taken into account in order to match your optical correction and your needs.
Each type of lens proposed by our contactologist corresponds to a specific visual correction: soft contact lenses / rigid contact lenses, disposable lenses, daily lenses, hybrids, mini-scleral, etc. They have their own flexibility and level of oxygenation necessary to avoid any irritation or complications with your eyes. We invite you to discover two articles on this subject in our News tab.
